Anatomy of the Pelvis & Pelvic Floor

  • The pelvis connects to your spine at the sacroiliac joint

  • The pelvic floor is a sling of muscles that supports your pelvic organs, prevent incontinence, and adapt and react to movement and physical demands of day to day activities

  • During labour and delivery our pelvic floor needs to relax and open to allow for a vaginal delivery. Your pelvic floor does NOT push your baby out.
